Wouldn't "aithin tú féin" mean more of "recognize yourself", like in a mirror?

Is 'biodh aithne agat fein' a bit long for the poetic feeling that is captured in the english phrase? It's meaning in Irish doesn't have the same stength as it does in English. It might be the same as saying 'know about yourself'. Unfortunately I can't think of anything with equal strength, I'm not advanced enough to stretch into litreary prose, unfortunately.
