I recently passed the new Hilton Hotel at Dublin Airport. The hotel's restaurant is called "sólás". Solas is a good name because, apparently, it's a "light-filled dining experience".

Nice to see Irish being used in this way, but what a pity the logo designers had to throw in a couple of irrelevant fada's (to add to the "ethnicity"?)

Tá bialann san óstán Lennox i mBostún a bhfuil an t-ainm céanna uirthi. Agus banna ceoil Gael-Mheiriceánach. (Níl a fhios agam an bhfuil siad ann fós.) Is maith an t-ainm é toisc nach bhfuil aon litreacha ann a chuirfeadh scanradh ar lucht an Bhéarla! Tá teach tábhairne anseo in Seattle a bhfuil Fadó mar ainm air. Ba dheacair praiseach a dhéanamh den fhuaimniú!

Bhí bialann Fadó i mBleá Cliath roint bhliain ó shin. Shíl cara Sasanach dom go raibh amhranaíocht Portaingéalach ar siúl ann

The student restaurant in dcu is called
An Bialann.. They also have a "cúinne na gaeilge" with fancy leather chairs.. Even though it's clearly signed Béarladóirí still sit there.

A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river
