I am looking to improve my fluency and my pronounciation sa Ghaeilge, I have a decent standard/command but it could be better. Apart from the obvious which is spend a peiod of time in a Gaeltacht area, what else would one suggest?
Go raibh maith agat,
P.

For sound, I suggest:

get a dialect book which details the individual phones

learn about phonotactics

I find listening to Radio na Gaeltachta very helpful. There is a wide range of accents to be heard from non-dialectic "standard" to beautiful dialectic Irish from the Gaeltacht areas. I particularly like the regional news reports following the main news at 9 am.

What kind of dialect book, I've been looking around for them and I haven't had great luck finding them all I can find is Turas Teanga (have) Buntus Cainte, and another book beginning with G which escapes me now...

Regarding Buntus Cainte, mine finally arrived in the mail.

Is the Irish on these recordings of a specific region?

A Dhomhnaill,

In my best guess Buntús is a pure Conamara in pronunciation. Spelling is caighdeán though.

Is fada ó d'éist mé leis... but what I recall is a Conamara basis with concessions to Munster. I once called it "cleaned-up Conamara Irish" nó rud éigin mar sin.

"What kind of dialect book"

The books on phonemic analysis, like http://www.celt.dias.ie/publications/cat/cat_e.html#E.2

Are you living in the US? Getting them might be less easy
