"B' fheàrr Gàidhlig briste na Beurla cliste." Would you prefer it in Scots Gaelic? I would say it will have to be translated |

okay, here's my stab at it...i've included the english text for those who may not have it memorized. I'm sure this needs much revision. If you revise it, please include the reasons for the changes you recommend so I can better understand my flubs: Sinne pobal na Stát Aontaithe, chun aontas níos iomlán a dhéanamh, ceart a bunú, ciúnas chlóis a cinntiú, ar an comhcosaint a riar, an gnáthsochar a chur chun cinn, agus beannachtaí na saoirse a fháil dúinn fhéin 's ár sliocht, an Bunreacht seo ar na Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá a bunaigh 's a cruthaigh. We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure [sic] domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. Shinya pwoball nah stawt eentaha, xun eentas nyas imwlawn uh yénow, kyart uh bwunoo, kyoonas xlósh uh kyinychoo, er uh kówkosinch uh reear, uh grawsoxar uh xur xun kyinn, uhgus bjannaxtee nah seersha a oil dooiny héin uhgus awr shleeoxt, uh bwunraxt sho er nuh stawich intahuh verikaw uh bwunee uhgus uh kruhee This is an attempt to convay the sounds. Of course, it cannot be perfect, as the two languages are compleatly incompatible, in that regard. There was no way to convay /x/, nor /o:/ (ó), nor /e:/ as the last vowel is how general american says the letter 'a' and I had used it elsewhere. ó is a pure long o; x is the 'Scottish ch in Loch' thing you hear about. Hey, Heasty, tell us how it went! |

Fear an t-uisce fuar a scaipeadh ar iarrachtaí macánta linn aríst. (Sea, is eol dom, nath bhéarla atá ann). |
