...actually looking for a word from the wise...in connection to a recent thread, where dennis talked of "noda."

cad é sin, ar dheis-lar, pictiúr seo...
(would the 'thing' at right center be a fancy "s" or a 'noda?')

A fancy 's', not a "nod". This is Book of Kells style writing, with the text in Latin. In the Book of Kells, everything is generally written out in full, without any scribal contractions.
