A chara,

I hear that the people of Antwerp are seeking to have the name of their town changed to Anvers so that the people who have been looking for this city from French speaking areas of their country for generations will be able to find it.

The People of Firenze are also seeking a name change since English drivers looking for Florence have been found wandering hopelessly, though happily, through Tuscany.

And the people of Nice are seeking a change to Nissa/Nice to facilitate those poor Italian tourists looking for this city on the Cote d'Azur.

However it is uncertain if the people of the ancient city of Aachen will go one up on our Kerry compatriots and name their town trilingually Aachen/Aken/Aix-la-Chapelle

It is not reported what is happening in establishments where guests are looking for Peking or Bombay Duck!

Mise le meas

That seems perculiar to me but I suppose that they want to encourage more tourism which in turn means more money coming in. It seems not quite right to change the name of one's city just for this.

Riona - I think it was a joke and irony on Eon's part reflecting Dingle referendum. :-))

Oh, OK. Oops, the all of you already know that I'm notoriously gullable and easy to confuse. GRMA a Romain. I have this policy about making sure that all threads are answered, I don't want anyone to feel ignored and often if I write something on a thread it gets put back at the top whare other people notice it and write on it.
