A friend of mine told me about the following chat room site, and it looks like something that Daltaí might be able to use. It just took a moment to set this up... http://www.chatzy.com/795480696830 The room is always open, try it. This chat is public and has no administrator, but if someone wanted to create a more formal one there is an option for that. |

while I get it that people might be scared to show their poor irish, how about setting a time, say for example, 1 o clock Daltaí time, about 6 o clock irish time, so that a number of people show up? |

Anybody know why IGTF is down? Server troubles. The host claims they found a vulnerability in our scripting and had to disable it - and with the site admin out of town this week, there isn't much the moderators can do to troubleshoot or fix it. In the meantime, we've set up a refugee camp of sorts over here: http://www.armbell.com/gaeilge It's been rather quiet so far, because I didn't have a way to notify anyone but the few regulars who were in my address book. But anyone is welcome to join us -- lucht cuardaithe na dtatú san áireamh! Abigail (Aibigéal on IGTF) Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

Aaron, How cool! It's really neat to chat as Gaeilge in real time. Thanks for setting this up and/or letting us know. |

A nice option for Luddite dialup users like myself. For you whippersnappers who've got webcams, microphones & a broadband connexion, you'll find like-minded conversants via this group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/comhra http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

How about setting up a single time per day for chatting, or two times per day??? |

Is maith an cuímhneamh é. I have no idea what would be good times for others, but I like the idea of two time slots since we're from all over the world. Would picking something around 6:00 DMT (Dublin Mean Time) and then another time slot (earlier or later?) give all those interested a chance to participate? |

Is that 0600, a Mhic, or 1800? http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

Go raibh maith agat a Chionaodh. I meant to write 1800 DMT (Dublin Mean Time). It's just a suggestion; there may be better time slots. Could you suggest a time slot that might work better? I think it's a great idea to have the opportunity to communicate as Gaeigle in real time. It would be even better to have teachers like yourself join in, even if it's just time from time. It might be something that, once we pick a time slot or two, we could come and go as we please. I really enjoyed being able to participate in the chat room last week and feel it's a big benefit for beginners like me. It would be good to hear from others who might be interested. Maybe if others voice their thoughts about time slots we could arrive at some better suggestions. I don't mean to dominate BRN's idea, but thought it worthy of pursuing. I would be happy with whatever time slot(s) the group chose, even if it's 0600 DMT - midnight (or 1:00 AM?) here. FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin |

Judging from the activity at that site, lots of folks are interested (and logging on), but simply showing up at all different times and finding no one with whom to chat. Coordination is in order, measaim. I'll happily try to visit at times that prove popular with everyone, but have no preferences myself (my schedule's a bit unpredictable). http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

I notice on the website that Aonghus provided above that the time in pop-up located in the middle of the screen, for London for example, is an hour different that the time shown in the right-most column. Like right now, the center of the screen shows 4:13 PM yet the right hand column shows London (GMT) as 5:13 PM. Looks like one of the algorithms might need some adjustment. |

níl a fhios agam go bhfuil an t-algorythm briste, ach tá an Java-script déana mícheart. bí ag sugradh le do chlog héin, agus tosaíann an t-am ar do ríomhaire ag athrú freisin |
