I'd write "neosainn" It's a Munster form of "inseoinn" = I'd tell. BTW: It should be "Éirinn" instead of "Éireann". Ar Éirinn ní neos(f)ainn cé hí. Lars (Message edited by Lars on October 12, 2006) |

I don't know if this helps, but Ó Dónaill's Foclóir Gaeigle-Bearla indicates: neos(f)aidh, var. fut of INIS |

Neosfainn is an archaic form (close to the Old Irish one), other dialects have simplified and regularized it to d’inseoinn (C), and d’inseochainn (U). Tír Chonaill abú!

http://www.irishtune.info/tune/2191/ "Ar Éireann ní neosfainn cé hí" is what it is sung as by Niall Toibín ó na Déise agus Joe Einniú ó Chonamara. |

i've seen it as " n-Eósainn " as well....what's the story there?? It's just a mistake! "Ar Éireann ní neosfainn cé hí" It is "Ar Éirinn" (dative case) of course. Tír Chonaill abú!

Sin ó thaobh gramadaí. Ach ó tharla cainteoirí líofa gaeltachta ag canadh "Ar Éireann", caithfidh go bhfuil cúis éigin leis. (Nioclás Toibín ba chirte dom a scríobh thuas) |

Feicim an leagan "ar Éirinn" minic go leor: Tóibín (1928-1994) was the foremost singer to emerge from the Co. Waterford Gaeltacht, and the new release, culled from the archives of RTÉ and Raidió na Gaeltachta, contains many songs associated with him, and with which readers will be familiar, such as Na Connerys and Ar Éirinn Ní Neosfainn Cé Hí, both of which (and four others to be found here) featured on his great 1977 album on Gael-Linn (CEF 062) Níl ach albam amháin le Joe Heaney agam, Say a Song, agus níl an t-amhrán sin air. Rinne mé Google Fight idir an dá leagan anois díreach: ar Éirinn ní neosfainn : 1,390 vs. ar Éireann ní neosfainn : 81 Caminante no hay camino, se hace camino al andar.

Agus tar éis éisteacht leis arís; is dóigh liom go raibh mearbhall orm cheana. Ar Éirinn ní dhéanfad arís é! |

Chluinfeá ’n t-amhrán sin ar an albam "Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair", albam a rinneadh fá choinne lá breithe na pobalscoile sin. Tír Chonaill abú!
