A chara,

I surely can't help you with this but if we get you back to the top of the list then maybe someone can.

Some that are similar in Irish:

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
Is treise dúchas ná oiliúint.
Nature is stronger than education.

All's well that ends well
Imíonn an tuirse ach fanann an tairbhe.
The tiredness goes away but the positive results remain.

This reminds me of another discussion we had about
Carpe Diem. Some more come to mind such as
Tóg an liathróid ar an gcead phreab
and
Is brea í an óige ach ní thagann sí faoi dhó.

Aon uair, a chara. Feicim gur fhág mé amach fada ar 'gcéad' thuas. A bhuel.
An bhfaca tú ár suíomh: http://www.daltai.com/proverbs.htm anseo fós? Bain taitneamh as.

Hi again Siún,
I started a new thread inspired by your request. It's titled Seanfhocail- All of God's creatures. Bain taitneamh as. If you know some more would you share them with us too?
Go raibh maith agat,

Caitríona
