Hi, I am in need of a translation from English to Gaeilge (Ulster). Is for my grandpa's passing and he was my world. "Our souls as one" "Soul friend" "Welcome Home" "Soul One" "Father" - (athair??) "A true gift from God" Also, are numbers translated as well?? I mean...example, 1923-1999. I am very new to Gaeilge, not sure exactly. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!! |

Irish has the same numerical system, if that's what you mean. A Gaeilgeoir would write 1923-1999 same as you would. But one is aon, two is dó, etc. |

Ár n-anam mar anam amháin Our souls as one soul Cara anama Soul-friend (Anamchara might be another possibility, but it traditionally indicates a religious counselor or confessor... I'm not sure that's the connotation you're after here.) 'Sé do bheatha abhaile Welcome home Fíorbhronntanas Dé A true gift of God Athair for "Father" is correct. I don't really understand what you mean by "Soul One." Can you explain, please? As far as I know, these would all be the same in Ulster as in Connacht (my dialect.) Please wait for a second opinion, though, before doing anything permanent with them. I'm a learner. Abigail Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!
