Níl sé gearr a Chróga75! It's not short! The enemy of my enemy is my friend:- Is é eascara m'eascarad mo chara. Or: Is é namhaid mo namhad mo chara. Is fearr liom an chéad cheann. |

Do chéad fáilte a Chróga. Fan le tuairim daoine eile anois go bhfeice tú. Wait until you see other peoples reactions to both or perhaps any other additions that they may have. |

Ní thigim an úsaid "m'eascarad" len gcéad sin. Nach "Is é mo chara an t-eascara"? An bhféidir go ndéanann an chéad chean sin feall air. eascara (ainmfhocal firinscneach) namhaid duine eascairdiúil |

Or, if you like political spin, "Is é cara agam an t-eascara." ??? |

So, "Is é eascara m'eascarad mo chara" is the better choice then? Ní Bheidh Mo Leithéid Arís Ann!

"Is é eascara m'eascarad mo chara" seems to flow off the tongue the best. |

Hold on a while / Fan go fóill. The problem I see with "eascara" is that it is very seldom used and mainly means an "unfriendly person". "Namhaid" is the common word for "enemy". Another thing, in slogans etc it is customary to leave out the verb "is" or "the copula". Only learners and teachers spin out the full grammar of such sentences. So that would leave you with "namhaid mo namhad mo chara" which being shorter should cause you less pain. :-) On the other hand having "cara" (friend) repeated in each of the three words might appeal "eascara m'eascarad mo chara" ... the choice is yours. |
