Hi!

There must be special rules as to lenition and eclipsis of both cardinals and odrinals. I think I need help here.

1) deich nóiméad don dó (10 min to 2), as far as I know it is not exactly the way it is said in the Standard, but maybe you have come across that usage. So, will it be: 10 nóiméad don ceathair nó don cheathair?

2) Then: is it always like “thar sé mbliana” or it may get lenited after certain prepositions in certain cases? And also: is it “ar an bhfiche bád”?? “ag an gcaoga bord”???

3) Numerals and possessive pronouns: is it “mo thrí cinn”, “bhur n-ocht gcinn” etc.?

Le meas, Peter

Sea, a Sheosaimh, seo é an rud atá ar intinn agam i gcónaí, thosaigh mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge Chonnacht agus fanaim seasmhach dhi (tá súil agam leis). Ach mar sin féin, nuair atá rialachaí gramadaí i gceist agus gan freagraí mo chuid ceisteannaí atá na leabhartha ar an gcanúint seo, cuartaím comhairle anseo agus mise buíoch de ‘chuile chineál cúnamh agus de gach ruainne beag eolais air.

Croga75, “do” is normally used in time expressions in Connemara.
