Has anyone downloaded any shows for private consumption and would be willing to share with me? Especially interested in Gaelainn na Mumhan stuff. I just discovered I understand many words here and there, so repetitive listening would be already of some value to me. Unfortunately you can't "rewind" live stream and listen over and over. Ádh mór orainn |

I got some, not much. I think I can give you a link to a free radio downloading program in a while. (Is it legal btw?? ;)) |

Check out the Total Recorder 5.2 on the Russian i-net(or earlier versions, but not 5.3 - there's no serial number available for it yet). (Message edited by Peter on April 19, 2006) |

A Róman, I record Ardtráthnóna once or twice a week. I tried looking for Gaelainn na Mumhan but didn't see it in the "Pioc clár" drop down list on the RnaG site. Do you have a link to it? I record it from Real Player using Audio Hijack Pro on the Mac. It wasn't very expensive. |

There are lots of programs in the archive of Raidió na Gaeltachta. You can listen to them several times. You can also rewind phrases using the free Real Player. I used to be able to download RnaG programs (ftp files, as I recall) but they've changed their set up and I don't know any way to download these programs now. I have stuck a microphone in front of my computer a few times and downloaded radio programs onto a minidisc recorder. Then I transfer them back from the minidisc to the computer and burn a CD. Go to this screen: http://www.rte.ie/rnag/index.html Pick the type of show you want (caint, ceol, nuacht) from the lefthand column. Then in the drop-down menu "Pioc clár" you can pick out a particular program. Some of them have several days' worth of archived programs to choose from. If you like Munster Irish, try "An Saol ó Dheas". |

Hi Róman, The Rm recorder is what you need for saving real media files to your computer. http://www.wmrecorder.com/rm_recorder.php I saved 20 questions of a quiz that was on RnaG the other day- If you'd like to take the quiz it's here :) http://www.brightonmusicians.4t.com/quiz.htm |

It is possible to record ANYTHING that comes out your speakers using the audacity program. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ There is a control up at the top right, set it to "mono mix" or "stereo mix" and press record. It will record everything that comes out the speakers... It's like putting a mic in front of your speakers. I've recorded internet radio, a few CD's (don't remember why I used audacity for that), parts of the BBC's "blas" program, which I turned into mp3's, and some other things. It'll even record the beeps a computer makes. Audacity is free, open-source, and available as Gaeilge, too... |

www.inneall.net/lame_enc.dll Remember, you will need the above (available from microsoft or other places if you prefer) to save your recording as mp3. If you try to export as mp3 it will ask you for the lame_enc.dll just download it and then direct audacity to the lame file by browsing for it once it asks for it. From then on it will know where it is, inless you chage the file placing. I good way is to put it in audacities folder itself so if you clear the desktop, you will ot lose the lame file (as I did) |

FYI, the advantage of a program like Audio Hijack or WMRecorder is that they only record the audio program you want. They won't record other sounds that could be playing concurrently, such as iTunes, alarms, beeps, etc. |

I had no problem. Are you sure you have the correct lame.dll? You don't need to open it - it just needs to be where Audacity can find it in order to use mp3. |

try the online tutorial, that's how I got it working 1) open audacity, and open the RnaG steam in your player of choice 2) in audacity, make sure (under edit, preferences, audio i/o tab) your speakers are selected 3) once the clip is going click the red record button in audacity 4) sit back, déan cupán tae, and record to your hearts content, pressing stop when you're done 5) you can edit the clip, but look up the tutorial about this bit (not too hard, just selecting and cutting out the unwanted bits) 6) go file, export as mp3, 1st time should ask where the .dll file is, locate it and you should hopefully be singing if all else fails, try redownloading the .dll file (Message edited by Dubhghaill on April 27, 2006) |

I tried reloading it several more times. Each time, if I had the zip file it refused to take it. With the regular file, it would say it was unable to open the library. Aw well screw it. I went over to cakewalk.com and got an encoder. I should be able to mic it up, record and mix into anything I want out of it. I appreciate the help anyway guys. Go raibh míle maith agaibh. |

I dont know what it says in Englsih, as my copy is in Irish and I cant get it to switch languages! So when I cannot redo your steps exactly. As for opening it, as Aonghus says, you just point to it. The way I did it was to wait till I had recorded something, and then try to export it as an mp3. It would then ask me for the lame dll. I would find the non/un zipped version and find it via the browse function and just click on it. The explaintions might not be clear. |

You can't record loudspeakers, that's your output! What source are you trying to record? Another programme? |
