Mikhailova? Bhoil, an bhfuil an ceannaire de roinn na Gaeilge in Lomonosov Moscow State University i gceist agad? Is Ollamh na Sean-Ghaeilge í Mikhailova. Níl aithne agam uirthi, ach cloisim a lán ina taobh. Mise mé féin, ní in MSU a dhéanaim mo staidéar.

An duine céanna, gan dabht. Nach ise a d'aistrigh an t-úrscéal Cuaifeach Mo Londubh Buí go Rúisis? Chuir mé Tanya i dteagmháil leis an údar, Séamas Mac Annaidh, níos mó ná fiche bliain ó shin (nuair nach raibh ann ach snail mail!) Bhí Gorbachëv i gcumhacht fós an uair dheireanach a scríobh muid chuig a chéile. Bean an-fhoirmeálta a bhí inti, más buan mo chuimhne.

Tá tú ag magadh fúm, a Dennis!!! :)) Caithfidh go raibh mé an-óg sa mbliain úd - má bhí mé ann ag an am úd ar chor ar bith!!! :)))

Gorbachëv ~ Горбачёв :)

Is eol dom go bhfuil aistriúcháin ón nGaeilge déanta aice, ach go bhfios dhom bhí fiú amháin a cuid mic léinn as MSU dhá lochtú siadsan :(( Áfach, tá aistriúcháin an-deasa ón nGaeilge go dtí an Rúisís ar fáil anseo, m.sh., ‘an Béal Bocht’ (Поющие Лазаря sa leagan Rúisíse, Anna Korosteleva a chuir Gaeilge uirthi). Bhí an leabhar foilsithe anseo cupla bliain ó shin. Ach maidir le cuid aistriúcháin Mikhailova ón Nua-Ghaeilge, níl a fhios agam cé acab ar foilsíodh iad ariamh nó nar foilsíodh.

Céard is brí le ’foirmeálta’, más é do thiol é?

Le meas, Peter

D'fhás mé sa tír timpeall Béal an Átha Mhóir, i Liatroim theas. Anois, táim i mo chónaí i mBAC nuair a bhíonn mo BA i síceolaíocht ag rith. Ní raibh a bhfios agam go bhfuil a lán cainteoirí sa chontae, ach tá teaghlach ó Chonamara a bheith ina gcairdeas le mo Dhaidí. Is iad cainteoirí duachais, ach níor mhaith leis Gaeilge!

An dán go deas! Cé a scríobh?

A Robeirt,

the whole sentence: "ach tá teaghlach ó Chonamara a bheith ina gcairdeas le mo Dhaidí" is missing smth. I think you don't need 'tá' here (I didn't know there were plenties of speakers in the county, but a family from Conamara that was befriended with my Dad). Or you change 'tá' to 'bhí' and add 'ann' in the end.( .. but there was a family ..)

Concerning your question - teaghlach is masculine, so "ina chairdeas", but relative sentence must be -

a bhí ina chairdeas leis, or
a bhíodh ina chairdeas leis (for an extended period)

Tá fear de chlainn Mhic Raghnaill as taobh Achadh Mheas - taobh Maothla, tá iarchéim Ghaeilge ar bun aige i Má Nuat, sílim.

Hello.
I'm new on this forum, and I must confess that I'm not from Ireland.
I really want to learn the Gaeilge language.
In fact I'm from the North of France, and I studied Gaeilge at the university three years ago (for six months...).

Just for the record, my ancestors are from Ballycanew, County Wexford, just south of Gorey. Had the pleasure of visiting there for two weeks last fall. Had a wonderful and reminiscence time. Inspired me to want to learn Gaelic and am in the process now. I realize it will be a long hard struggle, but I find it really fun and interesting. I was reading on the board that a town supposedly switched to Gaelic, maybe that is the tip of the iceberg, I am sure the future will see more and more of the Irish Gaelic used in Ireland.

A chara,

You might want to read that thread again because switching is exactly Not what that town claims to be doing, verdict is still out on that article, I maintain that it is a nasty joke.

I wish towns really DID switch to REAL Irish.

Does somebody know where I can find a site to learn Gaeilge efficiently? Because I find this language very attractive, but very difficult to apprehend.
I thank you very much for your help.

2 Yahoo! Groups have recently been established which deal with Standard Irish -

www.groups.yahoo.com/group/progressinirish
www.groups.yahoo.com/group/buntuscainte

Both of these groups are working from textbooks, however. There are other groups available dealing with different dialects but the above are just two which spring to mind.
