Greetings to all! I am a complete beginner, and new to this board. I have had a long time interest in speaking Irish, and would like to ask if anyone could recommend some study materials. The book and CD sets in the Daltaí store look good, but there seems to be a huge selection. Thanks in advance for all your help. |

A Chaoimhin, a chara, Fáilte go dtí an clár plé seo! It would help us if we knew a little about how you intend to study Irish. There are many good courses available. Is there a particular dialect which you'd like to specialise in? Will you be studying alone? Larry Ackerman

Hi Larry, Thanks for the fast reply and welcome! I am unfamiliar with the dialects, and I will be on my own. Are the dialects regional, or are there other cultural differences? |

Caoimhin, There are some free resources that are very good, which people here at Daltaí have contributed to, here: http://www.gaeilge.org/AIA1/ http://aia.gaeilge.org/audiofiles/ Also, a few excerps of the book Learning Irish, with audio, are available here: http://www.maths.tcd.ie/gaeilge/gaelic.html |

Thanks, Aaron! Based on yours and other recommendations, I've ordered the Learning Irish book/cassette combo. I'll be embarrassing myself trying out my phraseology on you all soon! Thanks again, Caoimhin |
