Right tá cúpla abairt agam agus dheineas féin iarracht chun iad a aitriú. 'Féidir aon duine cabhrú liom?

1 Do bhíos im shúi dhá uair a’ chloig roim lá inniu, mar do bhí muintir an tí ag dul ‘on Daingean le stoc…

What is being referred to here? Is it family? Owners of the house or what when she writes "Muintir an tí"

2 D’imigh an bheirt againn chun go mbeimís i mbarra an Chlasaigh roimis an gcapall nuair a gheobhadh sé chúinn.

3 Bhí mórán do mhuintir an pharóiste leis ag dul ann agus iad ag gabháíl therein ar an mbóthar mar ná raibh mórán siúil againne dá dhéanamh in aon chor.

4 Luíomar isteach le taobh an chlaí

5 Do bhíomar ag imeacht dúinn féin ansan.

6 Más ea ní gá náire ní mór a rá go rabhamair ag dul síos tríd an talamh.

7 Chuamair timpeall na sráide in aonacht léi

1 Today we were sitting for two hours because the people of the house were going to Dingle by horse and cart with their stock

2 we left for Barra an Chlasaigh to meet them before they went.

3 A lot of people from the parish were headed that way too and took up a lot of road.
We weren’t able to see where we were going at all!

4 We stayed in at the side by a wall

5 When we were leaving

6 Eibhlís and I couldn’t bring ourselves to dance, we were too nervous but at the end we did yet we were nearly falling into the ground!

7 Afterwards we went around the village with her and she gave us a few shillings to buy sweets.

'Maith agat
P.

I was up two hours before day(break) today, since the household was going to Dingle...

Important idiom: bheith i do shuí

Tá tú i do shuí go luath inniu! = You're up early today!

Is "im" another way of writing "i m'" (abbreviated "i mo")? I've seen it in titles of Iarla Ó Líonáird's lyrics & song titles and had my suspicions that's what it meant. Is that a Munster-ism?

Agus seo agat an dara ceann:

D’imigh an bheirt againn chun go mbeimís i mbarra an Chlasaigh roimis an gcapall nuair a gheobhadh sé chúinn.

we left for Barra an Chlasaigh to meet them before they went.

The two of us left so that we would be in Barra an Chlasaigh waiting for the horse when it got to us (lit. 'would get to us').

NB: roimis an gcapall = lit., before the horse --- ach féach:

Bhí siad romham ag an stáisiún. = They were before me at the station. = They were waiting for me at the station.

Ní raibh deis agam súil a thabhairt orthu inné, ach feicim go bhfuil beagán níos mó oibre de dhíth. Ach tá mé ag rith -- arís -- anois díreach. Más féidir leat fanacht ... ? Nó b'fhéidir go mbeidh Fiacc nó duine eile sásta tabhairt fúthu?

Bhí mórán do mhuintir an pharóiste leis ag dul ann agus iad ag gabháíl therein [tharainn] ar an mbóthar mar ná raibh mórán siúil againne dá dhéanamh in aon chor.

A lot of people from the parish were headed that way too and took up a lot of road. We weren’t able to see where we were going at all!

A lot of people from the parish were also going there and they were passing us on the road since we weren't making much headway in any case. -- or: we weren't going very fast anyway.

Luíomar isteach le taobh an chlaí.

We stayed in at the side by a wall.

Or possibly, more loosely: We sheltered by the side of a wall.
