First, thank you to those who offered some leads. Unfortunately, we are still seeking a Priest who can say Mass in Irish for us at the Fáinne Wearers' Weekend, March 31st through April 2nd on Long Beach Island in New Jersey.

We're still hoping that a member of this forum might know of a priest we can contact to say Mass for us "as Gaeilge" on Saturday evening.

If you know someone, or possibly know of a parish or school where an Irish speaking priest might reside, we would be very appreciative of any leads you could provide.

Arís, go raibh míle maith agaibh as bhur gcabhair.

The word "Mass" indicates that the Church of Rome is intended. Still, "seeking Irish Speaking Priest for Weekend" does sound a bit kinky ;-)

Here in the U.S. the term "Priest" almost always indicates Catholocism.

Maith go leor - feicim anois céard a scríobh mé - céard faoi seo:

Seeking Irish Speaking Roman Catholic Priest to say Mass at our Fluent Speakers' Weekend, Saturday afternoon, April 1st, on Long Beach Island, NJ

Is dócha go ndéanann sé sin cúis . . .

There is an organisation of priests who minister to people as Gaeilge, called Cumann na Sagart. If you contact them they might be able to steer you in the right direction. Sonraí:

Cumann na Sagart

Soláthar aistriúchán na liotúirge nua; foilsiú "An Sagart" uair sa ráithe: cúrsaí samhraidh agus campaí oibre sa Ghaeltacht, craobhacha ar fud na tíre, áiseanna a sholáthar do chléir chun freastal ar phobal na Gaeilge (i.e. téipeanna den Aifreann, srl.); léachtaí, tionóil agus seimineáir.
