Please Help!
I am about to read a story to school age children. The story is "King Cormac's Cup" and I would like to pronounce the names of his daughter, son, and wife correctly.
They are...Ailbe, Cairbre, and Eithne.
Please help, I have tried figuring it out using pronunciation guides on the net and all I am getting is a very bad headache.

I'm sorry, I forgot one more word that I need the corrct pronunciation for. It is Tir Tairngire , the Land of Promise.

These imitated pronunciations are not exact, but I think they're entirely close enough for your purpose, and should be easy to get a handle on:

AL-vuh -- or like the name "Alvin" without the n

CAR-bruh -- or like Barbra with a C

ETH-nyuh -- like a cross between "ethnic" and the name of the singer Enya

Have fun! (Note: since these are characters from Old (medieval) Irish literature, and since the spellings you have are the Old Irish ones, I've given you the Old Irish (ca. 900 AD) pronunciations. The Modern Irish versions are slightly different.)
