Have Irish poets translated any of their works into English and are they available? |

well the closest I came up with is this....keep in mind im FAR from any where near fluent Tá tú cailín go hálainn ar fad agus bhí mo chroí i mo bheal nuair a chonaic mé a tarbh sa phairc. the only thing i came up with is you are quite a beatitiful girl and my heart was in my mouth whenever i saw you in the park. I'm sure I'm off a bit but I thought id give it a try Ní Bheidh Mo Leithéid Arís Ann!

"Tá tu cailine go halainen ar fad agus tá me chroi i me bheal nuair a chonaic me au tarbh in sau pairc." Not very good Irish, but it seems to say: "You are a beautiful girl and my heart was in my mouth when I saw the bull in the field" |

I can't edit my post. I should have written: "You are a beautiful girl altogether and my heart was in my mouth when I saw the bull in the field" |

Hhhhmm. I can post without registering but I don't seem to be able to 'edit'. Croga75. Your translation was fine given the rather garbled message. You may be right about 'bull', it doesn't make much sense. |

Yes, there are: John O'Donohue at amazon at least in conamara blues are translations of irish to english. and there is lyricline.org although I have to say that I think that translations of poems are in general problematic... bain sult astu. Tar anuas den muc! Léigh an bunleagan, gheobhaidh tú níos mó tairbhe as. Táim cinnte go bhfuil notaí - i nGaeilge - ar fáil ar na dánta. |
