Bíonn ainm duine scríofa i gceannlitreacha ar phas Éireannach, mar shampa:

Sloinne: BYRNE
Réamhainm(neacha): MARK JAMES

Más ceart litreacha áirithe i d'ainm a scríobh mar litreacha beaga i gcónaí, cén chaoi ina mbíonn d'ainm scríofa ar do phas?

1) PROINSIAS Ó hAODHÁIN

nó:

2) PROINSIAS Ó HAODHÁIN

An scríobhann siad na sínte fada i gceart?

------------

A person's name is written in uppercase on an Irish passport, for example:

Surname: BYRNE
Forename(s): MARK JAMES

If certain letters in your name should always be written in lowercase, what way is your name written on your passport?

1) PROINSIAS Ó hAODHÁIN

or:

2) PROINSIAS Ó HAODHÁIN

Do they write the acute accents properly?

Maith an smaoineamh... déanfaidh mé fiosrú faoi.

Bhíos ag smaoineamh gurbh fhéidir le duine anseo insint dom dá mbeadh pas aige...

Bhuel, ar mo phas tá m'ainm is mo shloinneadh i nGaeilge dar ndóigh, na litreacha ar aon mhéid ach níl réamhlitir i gceist.
Ná labhair leis na cosa nuair atá an ceann i láthair!

Níl freagra na ceiste agam, ach má thuigim nósanna clóchuradóireachta na Gaeilge i gceart, sé "PROINSIAS Ó hAODHÁIN" an leagan is fearr. Tá nós sa Ghaeilge réimíreana ar nós h, t-, n-, a fhágáil ina litreacha beaga i gcónaí, fiú má tá an chuid eile den téacs ina gceannlitreacha. Anois, sí an cheist ná an bhfuil an riail seo ar eolas ag Oifig na bPasanna, agus an bhfuil an teicneolaíocht a úsáideann siad in ann chuige...

Is mise,
Michal Boleslav Mechura

Ó H ALMHAIN (le bearna idir an H agus an A) atá ar mo phas nua a éisíodh anuaraidh. Roimhe sin, bhí m'ainm scríofa le lámh, agus is Ó H ALMHAIN a bhí ann.

Written by hand? How come your passport was written by hand?

So did they have a space between the H and the A, and made the A slightly bigger and bold?

Toisc gurbh ón Ambasáid i mBonn a fuaireas é - ~10 mbliana ó shin.

Bhí an "A" rud beag níos mó, sin an méid.
