Hope you don't mind me asking but I have been confronted by a sentance, which I do not understand. Searching key words has lead me to here. I was wondering if any person could firstly confirm that this is indeed irish and secondly if anyone could translate it. na mairbh dirshliochtach; madra ina ainm Punch Thank you for you time |

It looks like dodgy Irish: na mairbh dirshliochtach: the dead who are descended madra in ainm Punch: dog in the name of Punch I suspect that latter should be madra d'arbh ainm Punch: a dog named Punch dírshliocht is "lineal descendants", so I suspect someone (ab)used a dictionary on that one! |
