At http://www.wsu.edu:8080/~dee/MA/CELTS.HTM there's a discription of the Celtsand this passage "the clan, called the cenedl (ke-na-dl), or "kindred," in Irish" Is this accurate? Is cenedl (ke-na-dl)old Irish?
"Cenedl" (= nation) is Welsh. Old Irish "clann" is a very early loan word from Latin "planta". Welsh also has this loan, retained as "plant" (= children). The Old Irish cognate of "cenedl", by the way, is "cenél", giving us modern "cineál".
