Seeing as how the whole chess set project seems to have garnered enthusiasm, I was wondering if anyone would be interested at a group effort for a project to do with the Irish Language? I haven't got any ideas at the moment, but I think if those who are interested wanted to volunteer then we'd make something good. Any ideas? Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

Sure and I'd love to do a project, though I don't know how much help I'd be. Oh and thanks for mentioning the chess set. I'd like if Antaine could update us on it since I haven't heard about in a bit due to extrenuating circumstances. Don't get me started on that one. But I'd adore doing a project. We have an ongoing audio project with Aonghus' and Robert's recordings of the little "Anseo is Ansiúd" stories; what other sort of project have you in mind? Any projects which help get resources into the hands of folks learning Irish are worthwhile to pursue, but apart from making audio available for books which lack it, I can't think of anything else we might undertake. http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

Note to self: Consider reading other threads before posting replies. Actually, Aonghus sort of hit on an interesting idea in another thread, and has already begun work on it -- common prayers & biblical passages. His first audio file is here: http://aia.gaeilge.org/religious/ I usually stay far away from religious topics in Irish classes, as folks come to such classes from many differents faiths. If we do it on this message board, though, folks can opt out by simply not visiting threads with religious content. http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

We could try producing high-standard books in Irish for secondary school, I know a guy who went to a Gaelscoil and all his books were in English, which I found highly counter-productive. I'ld have no problem translating my old books, but it'd take time and I have none. So, what do you guys think of that? |
