okay, so I've got a 1921 textbook that apparently predates the caidean spellings. I'm fascinated by its look. Is there anyplace preferably online I can find a list of the words that were changed along with their new/old spellings?

Don't know! But you could try putting teh words in http://www.aimsigh.com with "litriú neamhcháighdéanach" ticked, which ought to get you the new spelling.
