touchstone, n. - An excellent quality or example that is used to test the excellence or genuineness of others: “the qualities of courage and vision that are the touchstones of leadership” (Henry A. Kissinger).

Can anyone think of a translation of Touchstone (as in Garth Nix's Sabriel) that could be used as a nickname, either direct or symbolic? Having a heck of a time finding anything close to the feeling I'm looking for.

Much thanks!

~Anja
