A while ago, one poster (Nicole) posted a site that assited people learning by comparisions of grammar such that one could see how syntax worked in ones L1 and then the L2.

No,
it covered the Latin languages and English and compared gramamr trees so one could see the idiomatic function of certain constructions in the target language. (It had carttons on the page too!)

Try doing a Search on this site using the author's name as the criteria. You should be able to find what you're looking for, especially if you extend the search to cover posting over, for example, the last 300 days...

Hi Robert,

The site is:
http://www.oliviahill.com/html/ghome.html

This is the publisher of a series of books called "English Grammar for students of..." I find that these books are very helpful for those trying to learn a language but who don't have a good foundation in English grammar.

(The books don't actually have cartoons, though there is another book, called "Latin: Better Read than Dead", that does have very amusing cartoons.)

Excellent link. Great way to approach learning a foreign language, shame there isn't Irish version.
