A chairde,

I saw this film today.
There is a scene in which Mary Kate talks with Father L...something in Irish about her first night with her husband Sean.
Does anybody know this film and could tell me or transcript what she told him? Was it even correct Irish? I tried to understand it but it sounded too strange.

Thanks in advance,
le meas

Stefan

It was correct Irish. From memory it had to do with him being forced to sleep in a sleeping bag because she wouldn't let him into the bed; can't remember the exact words.

Plug "quiet man" and "mála codlata" into Google. You should find a discussion on igt.com that gives a transcription of the Irish. Ní cuimhin liom ón scannán é, mar sin níl a fhios agam an bhfuil sé acu go beacht.

Ah yes that's right - that's my old mans favourite film..
The Ireland it portray's is Hilarious!

A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river
