A dhaoine, I could do with some help on this one. There's a line from Shrek that I'm trying to translate for the fun of it. I can't remember the exact words but it was something like - 'One day I will repay you, unless of course (if) I can't find you or if I forget (about it)'. My attempt, 'Aisíocfaidh mé lá amháin thú, seachas ar ndóigh mura féidir liom thú a fháil nó má dhéanaim dearmad air' I've got loads to learn so I know there'll be a fair few mistakes in there. |

Seachas "la éigin" seachas "lá amháin" is dóigh liomsa go bhfuil sé ceart. |

Déarfainn "ach amháin" seachas "seachas". Ach le fírinne, b'fhearr liom "Cúiteoidh mé leat é lá de na laethanta seo, más féidir liom thú a aimsiú agus mura ndéana mé dearmad air." (Is féidir "aisíocfaidh mé an t-airgead" a rá, cinnte, ach maidir le "aisíocfaidh mé thú", níl mé cinnte ar chor ar bith! Is dócha go bhfuil sé ceart go leor, ós féidir "d'íoc sé an píobaire" a rá -- ach b'fhear liom "d'aisíoc mé an t-airgead leat. Yipes. Ag smaoineamh mar ghramadóir atá mé anois!) Cé a dúirt é sin sa scannán, dála an scéil? (Message edited by dennis on September 30, 2005) |

Scríobh Dennis: Cúiteoidh mé leat é lá de na laethanta seo, más féidir liom thú a aimsiú agus mura ndéana mé dearmad air. Ar fheabhas agus grmma, tá sé sin i bhfad níos fearr ná m'iarracht féin. (it's actually a line from Shrek 2) - Shrek transforms into a human after drinking the happily ever after potion and then he and his cohorts 'donkey' and 'puss in boots' hold up a stage coach to get suitable clothes for the 'new' Shrek. As they walk from the scene of the crime, Shreks turns and says " One of these days I will repay you......... Is breá liom na scannáin Shrek :) |

Seo seanfhocal duit a bhfuil an focal sin ann: Dlíonn comaoin cúiteamh. An bhfuil a mhacasamhail Bhéarla agat? Ní an t-aistriúchán atá mé a rá, ach seanfhocal eile! Is maith liom Shrek chomh maith! |
