Hi,
would Dennis, or anyone else have knowledge of a grammar of middle and/or classical irish?

I got the one on Old Irish to answer Dennis' question on inflection on another thread, but little good it did me...

Níl a fhios agam an bhfuil mórán Gaeilge agat, Robert. Má tá léamh na Gaeilge agat, ar aon nós, bheadh "An Nua-Ghaeilge Chlasaiceach" le Damian McManus (Caibidil IV in Stair na Gaeilge) an-úsáideach, agus/nó an t-alt "Teanga an Dána agus Teanga an Phróis" leis an duine céanna in An Dán Díreach: Léachtaí Cholm Cille XXIV If you need to stick to English, the brief run-down on Classical Modern Irish in the intro to Stories from Keating's History of Ireland (Osborn Bergin, RIA) crams a lot into a few pages.

Dennis,
thanks for the information. I will check them out. It is a pity that older langauges are not outlined in clear rule by rule format, but then again, the time taken to reaon out the paradigms is a great way to deepen grammatical knowledge.

Dennis

My name is Paul Harrison. I am the Headmaster at Northbrook Academy. I would like to know in irish the motto: "Clear the Way". This was used by the Irish
Brigada in the Civil War.
Thank You
