I'm interested to know how one would render the two phrases in the subject line of this message, in the following contexts:

"There's something big happening here and you're the only one who seems to know what's going on. I figure my best chance of survival is to stay as close to you as possible."

I know that direct translations for those two sentences will not work, so I'd like to know what the idiomatic renderings would be.

you're the only one who seems to know what's going on = it seems you're the only one who...

It seems can be conveyed by:

Feictear dom... = It seems to me...
Is cosúil go... = It seems/appears that...

Tá rud éigin an-mhór ag titim amach anseo agus is cosúil gur tusa an t-aon duine amháin atá ar an eolas faoi. (one possible version of many!)

Is dóigh liom I always felt was more 'I suppose' or 'I figure' and smaoinigh to mean 'I wonder'. You'd wanna ask more experienced folk though.
