I'm interested to know how one would render the two phrases in the subject line of this message, in the following contexts:
"There's something big happening here and you're the only one who seems to know what's going on. I figure my best chance of survival is to stay as close to you as possible."
I know that direct translations for those two sentences will not work, so I'd like to know what the idiomatic renderings would be. |

you're the only one who seems to know what's going on = it seems you're the only one who...
It seems can be conveyed by:
Feictear dom... = It seems to me...
Is cosúil go... = It seems/appears that...
Tá rud éigin an-mhór ag titim amach anseo agus is cosúil gur tusa an t-aon duine amháin atá ar an eolas faoi. (one possible version of many!) |

Is dóigh liom I always felt was more 'I suppose' or 'I figure' and smaoinigh to mean 'I wonder'. You'd wanna ask more experienced folk though. |
