Dia dhaoibh, a dhaoine.
I already introduced myself in the Irish room, but I'm sorry to say I still feel much more confortable writing in English.
So, here I am. My nam eis Davide, I am PhD student of Irish literature from Italy; my research is focused on James Joyce, Ciaran Carson and the influence of orality and oral culture on their writing.
I got some basic Irish while I lived in Galway, four years ago; I also took a course in Dublin this past winter.
Now I've got to the level where I can read simple articles, with the help of the dictionary. I am teaching myself the language, since it's impossible to find Irish speakers in Verona, Italy.

I am looking for a word processor that supports the Irish spelling; I am a Mac user, OS X...
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance,
Davide

What do you mean supports the Irish spelling?

I believe there is a freeware spellcheck dictionary out there for Gaeilge for both appleworks/clarisworks and MSword.

if you mean a Hiberno-English spellcheck (like british english) it is available (I believe for a fee) for any word processing program.

if you mean the séimhiú accent mark it is available on unicode fonts already using TextEdit, Pages or MS Word (you just have to change your 'keyboard' to "US Extended" or (on OS X.3) "Irish Extended"

Ok folks, I think I've found my way around the problem.
cocoAspell is a Msc Os X port of Aspell, an open source project for implementing spell checker in a variety of language.
http://cocoaspell.leuski.net/
I have installed the package and downloaded the Irish dictionary.
It's great, it works into the system spell checker, you can spell check irish as any other language, in any application...
Greatly reccomended.
Thanks anyway :-)
Davide
