My Irish teacher said last week that i should try and improve my written coversational skills. So I was wondering if there was someone out there that might be interested in exchanging e-mails and using MSN or something to have regular conversations with. I have been learning Gaeilge for about a year now but because of uncontrolable factors my Irish is not so developed. I would love for anyone to accept my request but i would prefer someone of around the same level to converse with.

Go raibh maith agat

Hey, I could do that
I've been learning Irish for uh since I was 4 so 17 years-hmmm..., however this means nothing AND i think it would do me good to go over the basics and get them sort of consolidated for myself, so yeah, emailing would be great.
If you want to email me i'm at

speak to you soon

Laura

As Condaidh Lú duit a Dhomhnaill? Bhfuil Gaeilg Uladh agat? (mmm, is dóigh liom nach bhfuil ós rud é gur scríobh tú "freisin"...)

Ní cloistear "Mise chomh maith" Cad a dhéarfá?
Is as Lú mé cinnte a Lhhhhhughaidh(mar a deirtear i dtír chonaill) D'fhoghlaim mé Gaeilge Thír Chonaill .i. cuirtear séimhiú i ngach áit, le gach tuiseal 7rl...Ach is fearr liomsa fíor-Ghaeilge .i. Conamara...
Carbh as duitse?

>Ní cloistear "Mise chomh maith" Cad a dhéarfá?

Deirfinnse "Mise féin fosta" nó "mise féin gomh maith". In iarthuaisceart Thír Chonaill, fuaimníthear "chomh" mar "gó" nó "gomh". Níl "freisin" ar bith ann ach "fosta" agus "gomh maith".

>Is as Lú mé cinnte a Lhhhhhughaidh(mar a deirtear i dtír chonaill)

i dTír Chonaill deireann muidinne "a Lughaidh" le l singil leathan (ailbheolach).

>D'fhoghlaim mé Gaeilge Thír Chonaill .i. cuirtear >séimhiú i ngach áit, le gach tuiseal 7rl...

Tá i bhfad níos mó rudaí ar leith i gcanúint Thír Chonaill...

>Ach is fearr liomsa fíor-Ghaeilge .i. Conamara...

Níl canúint Chonamara níos "fíre" ná aon chanúint eile (agus tá canúintí na Mumhan agus Thír Chonaill níos ársa ná í sin), ach is féidir go n-abrann tú sin siocair go bhfuil sí níos closáilte don chaighdeán. Níl an caighdeán níos fearr ná níos fíre ná na canúintí beotha.
'S iomaí rud in do chuidse Gaeilge nach n-abartar i dTír Chonaill: ní hamháin i dTír Chonaill a d'fhoghlaim tusa Gaeilg, tá mé 'déanamh, ach chan miste liomsa ;-)
(samplaí: "ní cloistear" > ní chluintear, cha gcluintear, ní mhoithítear... i dT. Ch.; "Cad a dhéarfá...?" > Cad é a déarfá? i dT.Ch.; "i ngach áit"> in achan áit, i dT. Ch. ...)

>Carbh as duitse?

As a' Bhriotáin domh féin. Gaeilg Ghaoth Dobhair atá agamsa.

>Vous etes francais?

Pas exactement: je suis Breton.
