Thank you kindly. Just as I was reading this, another person suggested: Réalta lonradh - Illuminating/shining Star)
pronounced: (Ray-alta lawn-ru) - pronuncations will differ)
I am curious about the difference in spelling. Thank you every so much, and if you know of an equivalent to "fireplace", I'd appreciate that one as well. |

Shining star = Réalta lonrach
Shiny star = Réalta lonradh
The most common word for "fireplace" is actually the word for "hearth", it's used in proverbs and so on:
Níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin
Literally: There's no hearth like your own hearth
Translated properly: There's no place like home |

Foclóir Scoile (School Dictionary) lists, in its English-Irish section both teallach and tinteán for fireplace. In its Irish-English section, it gives the same definition for teallach and tinteán: fire-place, hearth.

I would say that teallach is the fireplace with no fire in it, and tinteán the "active" fireplace. |
