a few words Tá cúpla focal agam - "I speak a few words", i.e. "I am very much a beginner". In English one would probably say "I speak a little" |

Person A: Do you speak Spanish? Person B: A little. Duine A: An bhfuil Gaeilge agat? Duine B: Cúpla focal. |

Hey Jax, I have used this site twice to obtain a translation. I like this site...people are very helpful and I trust the information they provide. No need to get all sarcastic on me. Did I put you out in some way? It's Friday...weekend is just around the corner...take some time to chill out a bit...I would recommend a nice, cold Canadian beer...or two. Thank you very much to those who responded to my question. Ralph |

Ralph, fair enough. Someone once said sarcasm is a form of bitterness, and it certainly looks that way when written down. Of course, it wan't my business to slag. |

Another reason why questions like this are well asked here is for other learners such as myself, who like to read through the posts and pick up bits like this. I'm finding answers to questions I hadn't yet thought of, or haven't gotten around to asking. SS |
