Tá ceist agam. On #1 of the translation excercises of Lesson 12, I'm asked to translate "There is only one hospital here." I figured it would be: Tá aon ospidéal amháin anseo. On the answer key, however, it says its: Níl anseo ach an t-aon ospidéal amháin. An bhfuil sé ceart? Nach bhfuil mo fhreaga ceart freisin? Mara bhfuil, cén fath?

Also, the two big houses = an dá theach móra. The answer key says an dá theach mhóra.

Tá aon ospidéal amháin seo = There's one sole hospital here

Níl anseo ach an t-aon ospidéal amháin = There's only the one sole hospital here

You express "only" by using the negative in conjuction with "ach".

I drink tea = Ólaim tae.

I only drink tea = Ní ólaim ach tae.

I care about her appearance = Ní cuma liom faoina cuma.

I only care about her appearance = Is cuma liom ach faoina cuma.

I'm not sure about the second one... all I know is that:

two big houses = dhá theach mór

I'd presume that:

the two big houses = an dá theach mór

I've no idea how they get: an dá theach mhóra ?
