'cuir síos ar'= describe

I have found 2 examples of 'cuir síos ar' used with 2 different verbs. Do they mean the same??

1...inar thug sé cuir síos ar na dánta a scríobh sé...
'..he described the poems that he wrote..'

2...déanann Cathal Ó Searcaigh cuir síos ar cheantair dúchais s'aige.
'..Cathal Ó Searcaigh describes the region where he was reared.'

also
3. Could i say,
'Chuir sé síos air.'
he described him

Le meas
Antoin

I would say that the difference between 1 and 2 is that 1 implies the action of describing, whereas 2 describes a description. Does that make sense in the context of the whole sentences?

3. is too much of a fragment, I think.

You've a misspelling there, should be:

inar thug sé cur síos ar na dánta a scríobh sé

in which he gave a description of the poems he wrote.

quote:

2...déanann Cathal Ó Searcaigh cuir síos ar cheantair dúchais s'aige.

Another typo.

Verb: Cuir síos
Noun: Cur síos

Déanann Cathal Ó Searcaigh cur síos ar...

quote:

also
3. Could i say,
'Chuir sé síos air.'
he described him

I don't see anything wrong with that.

He described the boat = Chuir sé síos ar an mbád
