Didn't a discussion just disappear? I saw that FnamB had started a discussion but I never even had the time to read it before it was gone? Any logical explanation?

Could be that it was removed from the post but available in the archives. That's usually what happens if a particular post is inflammatory or otherwise prone to incite discord.
