Is é seo mo chéad uair ar anseo. Tá uaim a theacht anseo go minic mar sin feabhsóidh mé i nGaeilge.

Well anyways I am posting, now, to this site in order to inquire about a project that I'm working on. First of all let me give some background about my self, I'm a first year master's student in Human-Computer Interaction at Indiana University. I am in a class right now and we were asked to chose topics and groups of people that we care about and investigate them. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while so I decided that it would be the Irish language and its speakers.

So my study is basically as follows. I am trying to design some type of system that will help Irish speakers or learners with some problem they may have. To find this problem - I need to get to know Irish speakers from many different perspectives - this began with an extensive literary research and now continues with investigation and "observation" of Irish speakers and related groups. The problem (and the reason for the quotes around observation) is that I'm in the middle of Bloomington, IN and haven't been able to find people to learn Irish from let alone observe.

Anyways, I am basically looking to do interviews, surveys, whatever from people who are interested in helping me out. This can take place easy enough online so that is not a problem. I have already contacted people from the University of Notre Dame and am going there to do some observation. I am also planning on contacting several other American, Irish, and Northern Irish universities that teach the language. I will try to contact some people who speak only the Irish language (which may be quite a task for me - I'm not sure) to get their perspective. I want to talk to Irish policy makers (esp. those having to do with the Irish Language). And lastly this website, to get more of a general survey of speakers.

If anyone is interested in helping me out. Please let me know on here (or over email I guess if you want). I'm still trying to finalize my organization, but I should get in contact with you pretty quickly.

Also if you know of anyone else not on this board that would be interested, please feel free to share my email with them.

Go raibh míle maith agat

Liam
