I am looking for a coat of arms or family crest with the words (spelt phonetically) "gwardith dear" or something similar. It possibly has three crows on it.

Sorry can't help with surname for coat of arms.
I just have this memory from long ago from don't know who in my family. My father was WILLIAMS possibly Welsh and my paternal g/mother was McGINNIS. Her origin is Irish.
The words were only spoken to me, not written.
I have googled for crows on crests but as you can imagine without the correct spelling or surname I find nothing.
This is my last resort to find the correct spelling from my pronunciation.

It does not appear to my looking that crows are used on crests, altho other birds are.
There is no "th" sound in Irish, but there is in Welsh (I believe, LL). My first thought in reading the phonetics was that it looked welsh, but that might have just been memory or speech obscuring the actual pronunciation.
Something to keep in mind is that a great many families mottoes are in Old French or Latin, despite the clans being of celtic or gemanic origin. |

Well,
I can promise you that the three crows did not come from the McGinnis crest.
If you are rendering the correct phonetic spelling, I'd look more to the Welsh side.
