Hi, my name is Mara and I was wondering if somebody could please help me with a translation. I am planning on getting a tattoo soon and I wanted it to be in Irish. If someobdy could please translate "Free as a bird" into irish, I would be most appreciative. Thank you
~Mara

Chomh saor le héan

chomh _________ le = as ______ as a
saor = free
éan = bird

"le" prefixes a "h" to a vowel.

That's grammatically correct but I don't like the sound of it. Perhaps it might be more natural in Irish to say:

Saor mar éan

(free like a bird)

Somebody some place else told me that
"Chomh saor le héan" was the translation, so that's another person that said that, but I'm still not fully convinced that its the translation, 'cause I don't wanna get stuck with a tattoo that isnt the right translation...

P.S. "Free as a bird" is from the song "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. That's 'free like a bird' won't work...

It's perfectly grammatically correct:

Chomh soar le héan

As free as a bird: Chomh saor le héan
Free Bird: Éan Saor
The Free Bird: An tÉan Saor
Free like a bird: Saor cosúil le hÉan
