My brother is getting a tattoo, and he needs to know how to say these in Irish:

1. The red dragon
2. Irish blood
3. Celtic blood

Thanks so much!

The Red Dragon

It depends what word you want to use for "dragon". A lot of dictionaries give "dragan". When I was in school, we had a book called "Diarmuid an Dragún".

An Dragún Dearg

Irish Blood

Fuil Ghaelach
Fuil Éireannach

Celtic Blood

Fuil Cheilteach

The Dragon belongs to the Welsh tradition rather than Irish; which is why it is hard to find an accurate word for it.

Before he goes for that tattoo, is réamh-Cheiltigh seachas Ceiltigh sinn mar dhream. Labhraímid, Gaeil, teanga a rianaítear siar ar an gCeiltis ceart go leor / As for blood from the Celts, we lack it:

An bhfuil a leithéid de rud ann agus fuil Ceilteach? Cultúr seachas "cine" atá i gceist.

Tuigim do cheist a Aonghuis agus tuigim nach orm a chuir tú í. Mar fhreagra, do léitheoirí eile nár mheáigh an cheist roimhe seo, dá mbeadh a leithéid inaitheanta mar phór, ní in Éirinn ná sa Bhreatain Bhig a bheinn á cuardach.

Ná ait ar bith eile, murar féidir leat dian scagadh a dhéanamh ar phór!
