Hello
I am in need of proper translation and grammar correction for the following phrase.
"Remember our dead brothers", translated; "Cuimhne Marbh Bra'thair".I have translated it using a dictionary, however I am unsure if it is correct. This phrase is going to tatooed on my arm with a picture of a crying dalmation looking at a firefighters helmet, hence the reason for correct translation. I would greatly appreciate any assistance.
Thank You
Paul McKeever

"Cuimhnímis ar ár mbraithre marbha"

would be Let us remember our dead brothers, which is closest to the sense you want, I think.

Spelled correctly:

Cuimhnímis ar ár mbráithre marbha

***

A Aonghuis, cén difríocht atá idir:

Cuimhímis

agus:

Go gcuimhní muid
Go gcuimhnímid

?

Agus cén fath go n-úsáideann tú "bráithre" in ionad "deartháireacha"?

***

Ba í mo chéad smaointese ná:

Go gcuimhní muid ar ár ndeartháireacha marbha

***

Paul,

Wait 'til all the responses come in on this!

Cuimhnímis Modh Orduitheach (imperative)
Go gcuimhní Modh Fhoshuiteach (wish form)

"bráithre" a usáidtear do daoine nach bhfuil gaol colainne eatharthu.

Okay, so the finished product:

Cuimhnímis ar ár mbráithre marbha

Or alternately you get it written in old script like so:

Cuiṁnímis ar ár mbráiṫre marḃa
