This is the second half of a poem by Diane Duane. I've translated the first half already, and had it corrected for me, but the fellow who helped me with the first half has been rather busy of late, and hasn't had the opportunity to help me with the second half yet. Can anyone step in? I'd really appreciate it. Where will you go? To what place will you wander? In vale or on hilltop, still I am there. Will you sound the sea's depth or climb the mountain? In air or in water, still I am there. Will the earth cover you? Will the night hide you? In deep or in darkness, still I am there. Will you kindle the nova, or kill the starlight? In fire or in deathcold, still I am there. ?1 I ngleann nó ar mullach cnoic, tá mé ansin fós.2 An dtaiscéalóidh tú an mhuir, nó an ndreapfaidh tú an sliabh? In aer nó in uisce, tá mé ansin fós. An gcumhdóidh an domhain tú? An bhfolóidh an oíche tú? I ndoimhneacht nó i ndorchadas, tá mé ansin fós. An ndeargfaidh tú an (nova)2, nó an maróidh tú solas na réaltaí? I dtine nó i bhfuachtmarbh, tá mé ansin fós. 1. How would I say "Where will you go?" and "To what place will you wander?" while keeping them distinct? I suppose go and wander are different verbs... 2. You know, I can't remember what my teacher said when I asked him about this. I thought he'd know, because he also teaches astronomy and physics (in how many Irish classes will you learn the word fisic, hm?). |

Oh, and another thing. Someone in another forum (on livejournal.com, actually) asked about a translation for "Here lies Arthur, the once and future King." After consulting with my dictionary, I came up with "Tá Artór sínte anseo, Rí tráth is go deo." What do you think (aside from my creative transliteration of Arthur, heh)? |

Seconded Although I'd stick a comma between an rí a bhí, agus a bheidh |
