A chairde,
I have a copy of Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla by Niall Ó Dónaill. It's nice in the fact that it's very thorough in the definitions and the sheer number of words it contains. However, it doesn't give phonetic pronounciations or the part of speech for any given word or definition.
Could anyone give me recommendations for dictionaries that would address these shortcomings? The more information you can give me, the better (eg. Author, where it can be purchased, etc.). I would also like suggestions for a good Béarla-Gaeilge dictionary.

The Daltaí Siopa has Foclóir Póca on offer for $14.00 American. It has a very good pronunciation key. Just go to the Daltaí home page and click on Shop. |

Ó Dónaill -- my copy of it, anyway -- does give the parts of speech, in abbreviations after the words, for example, nm., nf., a., v., ....
De Bhaldraithe's English-Irish Dictionary is very good.

Al,
I noticed that they gave the gender of the nouns but the parts of speech seemed somewhat spotty. It's probably just my inexperience showing.
Thank you for your suggestion. You can't have too many dictionaries. :-)
