Maith go leor. An abairt ar fad: "Phlúch na hallair agus na hollghártha cumha an chuid eile den chaint, fearacht mar a plúchadh cumhraíocht an ógfhir faoi cheann ala an chloig, sa mbrúisc imirceach sin a bhí ag déanamh go drogallach, dobrónach ar an long aistrithe." Níl mé in ann "cumhraíocht" a fháil freisin. Tá níos fearr foclóir uaim!

Dearfainn (gan a bheith iomlan cinnte) gur focal eile ar "beic" atá in alla

fch: allagar [ainmfhocal firinscneach den chéad díochlaonadh]
aighneas, argóint; caint ard, gáir.

Táim ag ceapadh gur leagan de cumhracht atá i gcumhraíocht
fch: cumhra [aidiacht den tríú díochlaonadh]
le boladh breá; glan, friseáilte; úr, glas
Foirmeacha Dírithe :
cumhracht [ainmfhocal baininscneach den tríú díochlaonadh]

Táim ag úsaid "An Foclóir Beag" : http://www.csis.ul.ie/focloir/

Táim ag ceapadh go bhfuil botún sa bpiosa thuas: gur "cumraíocht" is ceart a bheith ann - "cumraíocht", sin cruth

Tá brón orm, ach níor thuig mé do chéad theachtaireacht ar fad. An scríobhfá é sin arís as Béarla?

alla = shout
cumraíocht = shape. (cumhraíocht is a typo)

Phlúch na hallair agus na hollghártha cumha an chuid eile den chaint, fearacht mar a plúchadh cumraíocht an ógfhir faoi cheann ala an chloig, sa mbrúisc imirceach sin a bhí ag déanamh go drogallach, dobrónach ar an long aistrithe

The shouts and cries drowned the sorrow in the rest of the talk, just as the the form of the young man was drowned in the press of emigrants that was reluctantly and sadly making for the ship

Go raibh maith agat. Tá ciall leis sin. Ach cad faoi "brúisc"? Is that the plural form of "brú"? I don't fully understand the concept of declension. Níl tada ar bith faoi sin i mo leabhair Ghaeilge.

brúisc [ainmfhocal baininscneach den dara díochlaonadh]
brú trom (brúisc daoine, eallaigh); rois (brúisc fearthainne).
