Ar son m'athar in honor of my father Mo laoch my hero If you provide some of the immediate text, around those pieces, for us Anne, we may be able to avoid any misrendering. Tá fáilte romhat. - You're welcome. |

My eye is leaning a little off to-night, if you'll forgive me. More to the point: 1. I gcuimhne m'athar in memory of my father 2. i ndilchuimhne m'athar in loving memory of my father You'll notice I'm avoiding In ómós m'athar in homage of my father and In onóir m'athar in honor of my father. I prefer nos. 1. or 2. |

I will only be using the words "in honor of my father" in gaelic after the name of my business. Can you please help me with pronounciation as well Seosamh? |

If you're a Munster 'M' Anne, you may wish to say something close to 'ih nilheena maher' for no. 2. We have often discussed giving pronounciations, as above, here on this forum. The concenus is that it doesn't work in general. (I myself am not happy at all with the above attempt.) We may give IPA(lphabeth) in instances where the receiver is familiar with such. The effort is otherwise leading nowhere. no. 2 in IPA: [ðh n'il' 'xi:n'ð 'mahðr] Take care - Ádh mór. |
