Alt an-fhiúntach Béarla ag an seoladh sin le Gillian Ní Ghabhann.

Faoi eagrán 2, 1998:

'The Gaelic Revival in the US in the nineteenth century'
le Gillian Ní Ghabhann

A very interesting article for people interested in Irish/Gaelic in the US at the address above.

Ádh mór.

A Sheosaimh, a chara,

Nuair a bhí mé i nDoire an tseachtain seo caite, léigh mé alt i Irish Independent "Why I'm a foreigner in my own capital".

It's the story of an Irish speaker who gave up trying to use her natural language to communicate after spending an hour in Dublin!

Le meas,

Larry.

Go raibh maith agat a Larry as an méid sin. Ní miste a insint áfach, nach aon rómheas a bheadh ag muintir na Gaeilge ar an Irish Independent. Liarlóg Bhéarla amach is amach é. Is túisce a d'inseoidís an drochscéala dúinn ná an fhírinne le barr naimhdis. Tá BÁC beagnach cineál maith go leor le haghaidh Gaeilge. Dá olcas, ar nós gach baile mór eile in Éirinn, is cinnte go dtiocfaidh athrú as éadan ar an áit leis an Acht Teangan.
Is dóigh gur bhain an t-alt le teacht i bhfeidhm an Achta Teangan, go mb'fhéidir go bhfuil altanna eile mar é ar na bacáin ag an Indo agus go bhfeicfimid, mar sin, tuilleadh feasta, altanna ar an dul céanna acu. Is dóigh. (Gearr marc air.)

Ádh mór.

Seosamh

Sí Michelle Níc Phaidín, iriseoir le Lá a scríobh an t-alt. Bhí sé i gceist go gcaithfidh sí an lá ag iarraidh maireachtáil i mBÁC tré ghaeilge amháin. Níl an t-alt léite agam, ach chualas ar RnaG í.

Níl sé indeanta gnáth saol a chaitheamh tré Ghaeilge amháin i mBÁC - dá mbeadh, gaeltacht a bheadh ann! Ach is féidir líonrá gaeilgeoirí a bheith agat. An deacracht is mó na Gaeilgeoir a aithint! Mura gcloiseann tú duine á labhairt, ní bheidh fhios agat go bhfuil sí aige.

Nior cheannaigh mé an nuachtán áfach. Bhí sé saor in aisce i m'óstán :)

Le meas,

Larry.

Tuigim a Aonghuis. Sin mo dhearcadh féin ar an bpríomhchathair.

A Larry, níor cheannaigh, maith an fear. Níl aon pheaca ort mar sin!
