Hello,

I am going to Donegal for one of those Oideas Gael summer courses in I have seen on the web in a few weeks and I was wondering if there were any natives here or maybe someone who has been there that could give me some places to see and things to do while I am there?

As it is my understanding we will be taking the language course as well as do a "little" walking.

What I am looking for are things to do in my off time. For instance are there any little towns that are a must see?

Are there any suggestions?

I have a car and will be driving, so pretty much all of Ireland is open to me, but I was looking for things in the local area.

Slán

Jason

Jason,

Whilst I'm not a native of Donegal, I have strong connections to that county. Firsly, I'd recommend that you read info from "Gael Saoire" here.

http://www.gaelsaoire.ie/asp/gaeltacht_home.asp?language=english&gaeltacht=Donegal

Read the info they have on the website, and if you have questions I can answer, I'll gladly do so.

In the meantme, I'd say go to Glenveagh National park, in the shadow of Mount Eirigal. Fantastic views over Dunlewey lough. If you've got your walking boots with you, try climbing Errigal. The scenery around here is beautiful and very rugged.

Anyway, if you want more info, post and I'll try to help.

Caithfidh tú dul go Bun Glas ar Shliabh a Liag Jason. Más leis an chúrsa siúl sléibhe, beidh tú ag gabháil ann, gan amhras.

Mar chuidiú duit / a little help for you :

Tá Sliabh a Liag thíos blaisín ar an chlár seo / It's down a bit in these shots:

(Binn Ghulbain is not in these shots despite the statement.)

Go dté tú slán is go dtaga tú slán!
('Bon voyage' is long in Irish but it wishes you to return also.)
