A Chairde, Last Summer(2002) I heard on TV that an Irish film was about to be released about a man who had travelled the length and breadth of Donegal recording stories of the area to prevent them from dying out. He was commissioned by the government to do this. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the film. Has anyone any idea of the name and also do you know if it's out on Video yet? Can you please also tell me what the Gaeilge for STORYTELLER is? I thought it was seanathair (same as grandfather) but now have a nagging doubt! Sláinte Siobhán |

The name of the film (I think) was An Seanachaí Deireanach The man's name was Séan Ó hEochaidh No idea about whether it is on video, but try RTÉs site www.rte.ie - they have a merchandise link. Also, if you write to TG4 they might be willing to send you a video if you are abroad. |

Just found this link for the Venice film festival where the film was shown last year http://www.labiennaledivenezia.net/it/cinema/59mostra/filmbiennale2002/skd_film.cfm?LanguageID=IT&ID=136 This says the original language was english, and the title was the last Storyteller - but I'm fairly sure I saw bit's of it in Irish on TG4. |
