A Chairde Uaisle,
Just after a wee translation. "Funny Farm".... now, tuigim that it's not gonna be "Feirm Greannmhar", as that's the wrong kind of funny.

Would there be a better colloquial Irish expression for the, so-to-speak, 'nuthatch, loony bin..' etc?

Can anyone help a puir ould Aussie down under 'ere with this one?

Le meas,
Fintan

Hi,
The phrase is "Teach na nGealt"

Gealt is the word for a lunatic (from the word moon in both languages).

If someone has gone mad you say that they are in "Gleann na nGealt".

Slán leat ón gealt seo,

Oliver.

I meant "ón ghealt seo" (feminine)

A Oliver,
Go raibh míle maith agat a chara! Just what I was after bein' after...... I think I'll send my friend the "Gleann.." alternative, as it's a name for a farm he's after. Bingo chutney, and thanks again!

Le ard-mheas(?),
Fintan
